Hello! My name is Tracy Braswell and I am brand new to Hawaii. My family and I moved here from Northern Virginia, just outside Washington DC in June. I have spent the last few years as a long-term substitute teacher, most of which was in 5th and 6th grade. I am very excited to be the new 6th grade teacher at Keolu and can’t wait to make it a fabulous year for everyone!
My husband is in the Navy and will spend the next 2 years working at Wahiawa. His 25+ year career has taken our family all over the world and I look forward to sharing some of my experiences with my students as they might pertain to what we are learning. We have 2 children; Brandon, who is 18 and a freshman at High Point University in North Carolina, and Alex, who is 16 and a junior at Kalaheo High School. Brandon is a sprinter and will run track while he is in college. Alex is an outstanding soccer player and loves that the weather is always nice so the snow and ice won’t affect practice. He is in the process of trying out for a club team and also hopes to play for Kalaheo when the season opens.
I grew up in Alaska and have been to 48 of the 50 states. I have also traveled to nearly 40 countries and hope to add a couple more while we live here. We love to travel and take advantage of it everywhere we live. During my time in Hawaii I want to make certain I visit each of the islands.
I am a runner and am looking forward to running the Honolulu marathon next year. I also enjoy painting and cooking and spending time with my family.
Thanks for letting me share a little of my life. I am very happy to be a part of the Keolu family!
